Lorain Cooper, CUCE

Chief Risk Officer

Lorain Cooper, CUCE, serves as the Chief Risk Officer, and department head of the Risk Management Department.  Lorain has over 25 years of direct industry experience in leadership, management, sales and operational experience.  She has served in roles of commercial sales, SBA lending, underwriting, special assets, closing, audit, compliance, and risk.

While at CBS, she has successfully launched several departments and business lines. She restructured the closing department to include legal professionals and began outsourcing loan closings with local attorneys to create efficiencies and cost savings. In 2008, she started the Special Assets (Loss Mitigation) department and successfully worked out and collected millions, while maintaining historically low delinquencies and charge-offs. In 2014, she began the Risk Analytics department with a focus on a product line to include proposed Current Expected Credit Loss (CECL) FASB changes to ALLL. The new business line included piloting the program with clients, selling and oversight of staff to develop probabilities of default, loss given default and expected loss rates, data mining, migration analysis and credit modeling. The analytics provide a quarterly dashboard report for credit union senior management, the board of directors and examiners.

Lorain is a graduate of Florida State College and a graduate of Thomas More College with a Bachelor of Business Administration.  Lorain recently earned her Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) designation from the CUNA Regulatory Compliance School.  Also, she holds several certifications from the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL), Risk Management Association (RMA) and the American Bankers Association (ABA).  Lorain serves on two boards in Northern Kentucky and is active in her community.
